**75% of the proceeds were earmarked specifically for direct legal services to Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) LGBTQIA clients. If we hit our goal, the total will be matched 100%!**
Our virtual fundraiser was originally planned for mid-June for #Pride, but we pushed the online event date back to July 15 to focus on outreach and support efforts for the Black Lives Matter movement, particularly our LGBTQIA+ communities and clients of color, who are among the most vulnerable. We stand in solidarity with Black community and will be continuing to dedicate resources and energy there. Our Senior Legal Director Andy Izenson is the President of the NYC chapter of the National Lawyers Guild and has been working overtime providing organizing, legal, and jail support to the Black Lives Matter protests and in the fight against police brutality. We are committed to a diversity of tactics in service of justice, autonomy, and self-determination for all families; we consider it an integral part of our work to secure for every parent, sibling, and partner the right to be free from the fear that one’s family members will be murdered or disappeared by law enforcement.
CFLC provides educational and legal support to low-income LGBTQIA+ individuals, families, and asylum seekers to protect themselves with the legal stability they deserve. We believe in justice for all families, and we’re using our legal and educational resources to make that possible.
Our clients need our help now more than ever. Our project areas include:
