CFLC is recruiting interns on an ongoing basis to assist in development and execution of our projects, educational materials, and service areas.
We have two internships - when applying, please be clear which you are applying for per below!
I. LAW STUDENT INTERN/EXTERNSHIP:
This internship is appropriate for rising 2nd or 3rd year law students who have previous experience with family law and LGBTQIA+ legal issues.
The intern/externship will involve hands-on training in family law practice, LGBTQIA+ rights and issues, with direct supervision and mentoring.

REQUIREMENTS:
This internship requires excellent research and writing skills and at least a basic family law class, and an ideal candidate will have taken classes covering assisted reproduction, adoption, wills and estates, matrimonial law, and/or general LGBTQ law. All applicants should be culturally competent to serve the LGBTQIA+ community.
Fall (September-December) internships/externships are expected to be part time and require a minimum commitment of 15 hours/week during business hours (hybrid of in-person and remote) for at least 10 weeks during those months.
Winter/Spring (January-April) internships/externships are expected to be part time and require a minimum commitment of 15 hours/week (hybrid of in-person and remote) during business hours for at least 10 weeks during those months.
Summer (May-August) internships/externships are expected to be full-time and require commitment of 35 hours/week (hybrid of in-person and remote) during business hours for at least 10 weeks during those months.
Our internships are unpaid. We are happy to comply with school requirements for securing externship or public interest course credit, and we have served as an externship placement for Harvard Law School, Brooklyn Law School and New York Law School for several years. Opportunity exists for mentoring on specific skill development, a recommendation letter and references/connections for public interest, small firm, solo practice, or legal service/non-profit/LGBTQ practice at the end of the semester.

II. NONPROFIT MANAGEMENT AND GRANT SUPPORT INTERNSHIP
Chosen Family Law Center is a 501c3 non-profit organization seeking a volunteer or nonprofit management intern to work directly with our Development Director on grantwriting, marketing, and fundraising events. You do NOT need to be in law school for this internship!
This position will directly support a prominent early-stage nonprofit, and you will have direct supervision and mentoring from our Development Director and Director of Operations. You will have the opportunity to support and be part of a passionate, mission-driven, high-performing team that is committed to providing legal services to the low-income LGBTQIA+ community in New York and making an impact nationwide through legislative advocacy and public/professional education.
INTERNSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES:
REQUIREMENTS:
We are seeking either currently enrolled students in Nonprofit Management or aligned fields who are looking for hands-on intern/externships, OR those who have significant past experience working in 501c3 organizations who would like to volunteer their time to gain hands-on experience in best practices.
This position is expected to be at least 15 hours (2 full days) a week during business hours for a minimum of 10 weeks. Work schedule can be flexible and is primarily remote via Google platforms & Zoom. Some in-office meetings in NYC are required.
CFLC accepts non-profit management and grantwriting interns seasonally (Summer, Fall, Spring).
Our volunteer positions and intern/externships are unpaid. We are happy to comply with school requirements for securing intern/externship or public interest course credit.
