Income and Eligibility

To qualify for services with Chosen Family Law Center, we screen applicants for the following qualifications:

  • All clients must be below 250% of the federal poverty line. See chart - the limits are on your GROSS INCOME for your HOUSEHOLD/FAMILY, not just you. Financial documentation of income and assets will be requested and must be provided to qualify for services.  A Financial Household is those who share finances, not necessarily those who live under the same roof. If you do not share finances as a family would with the other people you live with, such as roommates, then only submit information for yourself. If you do split finances with others in your household (your parents, your spouse, your siblings, your unmarried partners), we need income documentation for everyone in the financial household over the age of 18.
  • A clients must be a self-identified member of the LGBTQIA+ community, and requiring assistance with LGBTQIA or non-nuclear family legal issues.
  • All clients must be a resident of one of the following New York Counties: All 5 boroughs of NYC, Westchester County, Putnam County, Ulster County, and Dutchess County.  We do not serve clients outside of New York State.
  • You must be requesting a service we provide. Our list of services is here. We do not handle divorce, custody, discrimination, immigration, housing, employment, education, medical, or violence/harassment cases or any matters that have gone to trial.

If you meet these qualifications, to apply for assistance, FILL OUT OUR INTAKE FORM HERE.

Please note that filling out the intake is a request for services; services are not guaranteed.

If you do not meet these qualifications but are seeking assistance as an LGBTQIA+ person, please see the other resources on our GET HELP page.
