Planning for things like medical emergencies and end-of-life care can be daunting. We're here to help make things simpler and to ensure that you're not approaching these big questions alone. Join us at the NYC Pride headquarters for a FREE clinic where we will walk you through the documents you need to make sure that your identity and wishes are respected, your loved ones know how to honor you, and that your legacy is protected the way that you want it to be.

We’ll be helping you complete some simpler documents, such as Power of Attorney and Healthcare Proxies, and giving you all the information you need to start working on more complex things like your Will.

To help us with the tough conversations around death and remembrance in the queer community, our attorneys will be joined by our incredible queer Death Doula, Dee Dee Watters.

Having your emergency documents in order is not only responsible, it’s a gift to those you love and leave behind. You don’t have to handle these things alone. We can do them as we do everything else, as a community.

Directly after the event, NYC Pride is throwing their October Open House. It’s a great opportunity to meet new people, get into the Halloween spirit, and celebrate what we just accomplished as a group. Costumes encouraged, prizes for best costume will be awarded!

Join Instructors Diana Adams, Esq & Andy Izenson, Esq. for this 1.5 credit hour Continuing Legal Education Course.

Many attorneys frequently support clients who are in crisis or have significant trauma, and often play an important role in a client’s support system. Although this work is rewarding, it can weigh heavily on practitioners, sometimes resulting in secondary or vicarious trauma. This kind of trauma can have a substantial effect on one’s own mental health and well-being as well as on professional capacity. As a result, many legal services offices churn through employees who leave after a short time because the work is unsustainable. As we strive to create justice for our communities and clients, this class invites introspection into how we can also better care for our employees, co-workers, and selves, to promote resiliency and the ability to continue in advocacy without burnout or trauma. This CLE will address not only how to recognize the symptoms of burnout or trauma, but how to create workplaces that prevent and respond to it.

Application for New York CLE accreditation is currently pending. Sliding scale registration is available for those who qualify.

The legal environment in which trans, gender nonconforming, and gender expansive young people and their supportive parents find themselves is complicated and can be frightening.

This information and Q&A session with attorney and advocate Andy Izenson, Senior Legal Director at CFLC, will help participants understand the landscape of state and federal law, think through strategy in support of their child, and connect with legal resources in their state to seek legal advice if needed. This session is open to trans, gender nonconforming, and gender expansive people of ALL ages and their parents, guardians, or caregivers.

Join our Senior Legal Director Andy Izenson on Trans Day of Visibility! 

Andy will be a guest speaker at Congregation Beit Simchat Torah (CBST), a queer progressive synagogue in Manhattan for their Trans Day of Visibility Shabbat service. Andy's portion of the service will begin around 7:15. 

Give your Trans Day of Visibility an added layer of reflection and reverence with this progressive, queer, spiritual service. Services are open to the public and will be live-streamed. People of all faiths and backgrounds are welcome to attend and connect with the community. 

Congregation Beit Simchat Torah is New York City’s LGBTQ+ synagogue, a spiritual home for people of all sexual orientations and gender identities. Passionate, provocative, and deeply Jewish since 1973, CBST is a multi-generational community that prays together, acts for social justice, hosts learning for all ages, cares for our LGBTQ+ elders, and celebrates the newer generations of LGBTQ+ Jews leading us into the future.
